Another transition day and again by taxi. A little deja vu as the driver explained that the lack of seat belts in the rear was actually ‘no problem’. Off we set and within 5 minutes his phone rang and an irate caller seemed to be chastising him for something or other. 5 minutes later, another caller did something very similar. The driver stopped the vehicle and took a selfie of him and us, WhatsApped it to someone and then carried on. We think what must have happened was that it was his turn to look after grandma and his family thought he was skiving. A quick WhatsApp of proof that he actually had a fair did the trick. No more shouting. The rest of the journey was relatively trouble free although he gave the motorway a swerve and opted for a route of lower tolls. This meant more cows, goats, monkeys and camels, not to mention holes in the road the size of disused mineshafts. Crisps for lunch though and arrived in Jodhpur 6 hours later, while still light.
