The plan was to take a tuck tuck to Jaswant Thada which is high on a hill overlooking Jodhpur. Then having had a good look round we would walk back. Tuck tuck rides are an endless source of entertainment (as well as bruises) but today we were treated to being stuck for a good 30 minutes as two buses tried to pass each other on what we were told was a one way street. Now, a one way street in India means that most vehicles go both ways. There’s a kind of a hands off, common sense approach to enforcement from the police. However, a coach trying it is taking the Micky. In situations like this, absolutely no one covers themselves with glory. No backing up. Every man and woman for themselves. Presently, we heard police sirens but ironically they were stuck in traffic a way back. Then, and I say this with pleasant surprise, a team of 6 boys in khaki walked up and sorted the situation out. All amazing entertainment. I mean we could have been watching The Bake-off Final!
